Country Heights Holding Berhad History

Country Heights Holdings Berhad is founded by Tan Sri Dato’ Paduka Lee Kim Yew on the 10th of May 1984, with the motto of "Ever Searching for Better Living". From the humble beginnings of a private limited company 30 years ago, CHHB has grown from strength to strength alongside Malaysia, and has become one of the nation's pioneering property developer that delivers unique, innovative and quality products.

(Officially incorporated on the 10th of May 1984 under the name of Kurniata Sdn Bhd, the company later changed its name to Mojilee Sdn Bhd on 5th November 1987. Subsequently on the 17th January 1991, the name was changed to Country Heights Holdings Sdn Bhd to enforce it's determination in creating lifestlye based projects. On 29th June 1993, Country Heights Holdings Berhad was converted to a public limited company and adopted its present name. Country Heights Holdings Berhad was listed on the Main Board of the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on 18 February 1994.)

CHHB celebrated its 30th Anniversary of incorporation on 10th May, with an anniversary slogan of "It's all about meaningful innovative creations".

CHHB unveiled Malaysia's first floating sales gallery at The Mines Waterfront Business Park

2013

CHHB received official letter of award for ETP status

Education division launches Eight Virtues Preschool, located at The Heritage in Seri Kembangan.

Property Development division launched Mansion Park in Cyberjaya, Malaysia

2011

CHHB was selected and awarded to be part of Malaysian Government's Economic Transformation Program (ETP), with special tax exemptions for property development, property management and operators for health and wellness industry players- an RM 11 billion, 10 year project.

Property Development division launched and began construction for Lakeview Residency in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.

2010

Palace of the Golden Horses selected as host venue hotel for the First Ladies Summit 2010, and the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic 2010 welcome cocktail.

Health division's expansion of the GHHS Health Screening facility and the launch of its health products retail store Bio-herbs. Official launch of Mines Green Circle, a corporate social responsibility program under the Hospitality Division.

2009

MINES EVENTS inaugurated and hosted first "READ Malaysia Exhibition" to promote the culture of reading in the community.

GHHS upgraded to the latest version of ISO 9001:2008 QMS certification.

2008

Golden Horses Health Screening: 
In the effort of expanding and diversifying our health business, Country Heights officially launched the Traditional Chinese & Complimentary Healthcare Centre (TCM) approve by the Ministry of Health Malaysia. This is our third health centre.

Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew relinquished is Managing Director position which he had held for the past 24 years and re-designated as the Non-Executive Deputy Chairman to-date. Mr. Mark Rozario was appointed the new Group Managing Director. Despite the burst of the real estate bubble and sinking subprime issues in the financial industry, Country Heights have successfully introduced Mines Golf City, a 63 hole luxurious golf course and homes

2007

Property Development division lauches Cyber Residency in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.

Our hotels actively participate in the 2007 Visit Malaysia Year activities and benefit from the high inflow of tourists.
Disposal of Mines Shopping Fair for cash consideration of RM432 million and redeemed the RM420 million loan stock 4-year prior to its maturity. Following the redemption, the gearing of the Group has reduced to 0.6 times

2006

GHHS- Health Screening obtained ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Standard certification from Llyod's Quality Assurance under "Provision of Medical Screening & Preventive Healthcare Services".

Palace Beach & Spa: 
We embarked on re-branding exercise for Mines Beach Resort & Spa, now known as “Palace Beach & Spa”, Country Heights Vacation Club, now known as “Palace Vacation Club” and Country Heights Health Sanctuary, now known as “Palace Health Sanctuary” to creating a unified branding with PGH

2005

International Malaysia Education Centre (IMEC) begins operations at Country Heights Kajang facility.

Launch of Admiral Cheng Ho Voyages Exhibition at MINES in commemorating the 600th anniversary of Cheng Ho’s sea expedition. 
MIECC inaugurated and hosted the biggest Chinese book fair in the region ‘The World Chinese Book Fair 2005’.

2004

Mines Marketing a winner of the Innovative Human Capital Development Award 2004 by JT Frank Academy SB,

Country Heights Holdings Berhad undertakes a comprehensive restructuring exercise to put the Group on a stronger footing. The restructuring, which encompasses four corporate exercises, is aimed at unlocking CHHB’s underlying property development value, streamlining businesses and addressing its financial obligations.

Golden Horses Health Screening: 
Under the expansion of Golden Horses Health Screening Services, was established with the tagline of "Prevention is Always Better than Cure"

2003

Palace of the Golden Horses selected as official hotel for the X OIC Summit and the XIII NAM Summit.

The double blow of the war in Iraq and the SARS crises have had a negative impact in the leisure, travel and tourism industries by fueling fear, discouraging bookings and delaying investment plans.

2002 The Mines Resort welcomes the visit of the late Nelson Mandela, the Brazilian World Cup Football Team, and then Vice President of China, Hu Jin Tao's visit to Malaysia.
2001 Amid shrinking consumer confidence following the Asian Financial Crisis and the September 11, 2001 attack in the World Trade Center in New York, Country Heights Damansara was successfully launched using CHIPI investment scheme. Priority registrants at the launch netted RM 150 million in sales.
2000

Borneo Highlands Resort was officially launched by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad (then Prime Minister), as the world’s first rainforest holiday homes and golf course situated 1000 meters above sea level on the border of Kalimantan, Sarawak.

Mines Golf Club inaugurated and hosted Women’s World Cup Golf.

1999 Mines Golf Club hosted World Cup Golf, the first time Tiger Woods visits Malaysia where Tiger Woods. The Mines Resort City hosted the World Formula One event.
1998

The ExCeL Exhibition and Conference Center project in London took off even though Malaysia was still hit by the Asian Financial Crisis in 1998. CHHB remained strong, made possible by Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew’s leadership and recapitalization.

Palace of the Golden Horses selected as venue for Asia Pacific Economic Conference (APEC), and the official hotel for XVI Commonwealth Games. The hotel welcomes Her Majesty Queen Elizebeth's visit to Malaysia's Commonwealth Games

1997

The year saw the majestic completion of the rest of the components of The Mines Resort City – Mines Waterfront Business Park, Palace Beach & Spa, Mines Shopping Fair, Palace of the Golden Horses and Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Center.

Palace of the Golden Horses became host venue for the 7th G15 Summit.

This same year, the Asian financial crisis struck. Country Heights was one of the few stable companies that drive through the crisis successfully.

1996

College Heights Garden, Pajam was launched, developing Malaysia’s first academic township

CHHB's set its foot in South Africa, developing Peacanwoond Resort & Residential Estate, South Africa's first country home estate.

Piling began for MIECC, Malaysia's largest capacity per tonnage convention and exhibition hall.

1995 Country Heights Villas, Kajang was launched, making the mark of Malaysia’s very first Mediterranean Waterfront homes.
1994 Country Heights Holdings Berhad was publicly listed on the main board of the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on 18th February. The same year, The Mines luxury golf home bungalow and Borneo Highlands Resort, Kuching Sarawak were launched.

CHHB was awarded by local government of Mauritius to complete low cost housing development that is able to withstand 200-km-hr winds and extreme weather.

1993 The Mines Wonderland theme park was completed.
1990 From a scarred and derelict wasteland, the world’s largest open cast tin mine was transformed into The Mines Resort City, Malaysia’s most breathtaking landmark. The Mines Resort City was carved out beginning with the construction of Mines Wonderland.
1987 In the wake of a painful recession, Country Heights pioneered the concept of gated and guarded country living in Malaysia with the launch of Country Heights Kajang. A near worthless rubber estate that was transformed into the “Beverly Hills of Malaysia.
1986 A global recession brought about the October crash, the Malaysian economy took a major nosedive.
